Ib seems to have some food issues.

When I got him, he ate Blue Buffalo just fine. I switched them to Halo's Spot's Stew, which is completely grain free. He was on that for about a month. The whole time, he was puking constantly. No foam, no bile, just whole food coming back up partially digested. Some days, he'd puke constantly, and some days it'd only be once. Occasionally, he might go a day without puking it all up. But, it was disgusting, irritating, and makes me feel sick having to clean it up (not to mention staining the fucking carpet).

So I have switched them back to Blue Buffalo. Two days, absolutely no puking. Until tonight. I put down some wet food, both he and Tem ate it, and then a short while later, he did his "I don't feel good" meow, and I saw him tensing, so I hopped up, grabbed him, and chucked him onto the kitchen floor just in time. Then I stood over him and kept him in place while he puked once, twice, three more times. The entire contents of his stomach, all wet food except for a couple of pieces of dry food.

He's locked in the bathroom until I'm sure he's done. I cleaned it up, and got my bleach spray and mopped over his puking spot.

He's using the toilet fine, he's active, bright, playful, doesn't have a distended belly, he's clean, etc etc. Absolutely no signs of being sick.

Given the evidence, I guess he can't handle rich food, including wet food. (He refuses to eat raw, so I don't know what that's like for him.) He also puked up the Spot's Stew wet food. Tem eats them all fine, and I have seen her puke only once, right after I got her. It is not the food.

As far as I can tell, it's all just a bad reaction to rich foods, including meaty foods, that don't agree with him. He was born feral and has some allergy issues (as do all of his litter mates), so it really could be anything. I'm just tired of dealing with cat puke, especially when it happens when I'm trying to eat. Ugh.

The food thing doesn't surprise me at all. After getting Pumpkin treats, and giving her soft treats, the hard ones just destroyed her stomach. Poor baby

Our cat storm has has a long history of puking. We learned she is lactose intolerant, and that cut down a lot of it, and she seems to only puke up the dry stuff we give the boy cats (unfortunately, the dry stuff is urinary tract stuff that THEY need to eat). So, I'd look to food allergies, and also consider that some cats gorge themselves, and that makes them puke. Storm also has periodontal disease, which made her not want to eat, and when her gums became infected, she started puking again and practically quit eating altogether. So now she only wants to eat Fancy Feast (we were desperate to give her anything she'd eat when her gums were infected, and that's what she REALLY likes), and she keeps it down, is putting on weight and is pretty and healthy again.

Aren't cats fun and magical??
