Apr. 24th, 2009 07:09 pmI've been saving my hydrocodone from my kidney stone just in case I needed it.
I have also been in some incredible pain lately that no amount of aleve was helping with.
So, I put two and two together. Oh my gods. It takes about 60-90 minutes to notice the difference but it's amazing. I go from constant pain with sharp shocks of pain in my knees to a very low grade "this is annoying but not impairing" ache.
It handles my pain so well that I barely notice it and can get on with what I need to do. With just aleve I am still in so much pain I obsess about wanting to sit or I keep flexing my legs to try and ease the pain-tension.
I had been toying with asking the doctor once my benefits kicks in for some pain reliever but now I want to ask specifically for hydrocodone. Being able to move and function again feels so good.
Of course, there's a side effect. I notice heightened mood after the pill kicks in, which is a definite plus too.
I still want a diagnosis but this makes it all much more bearable in the meantime.

Date: 2009-04-25 12:24 am (UTC)That's how I got my referral to get my back pain documented. I told this PCP who I had never met before that he can either give me a referral to a plastic surgeon or give me a Rx for Lortab (which is hydrocodone). He thought I was just coming in for pain killers so he passed me off to a back doctor and I was able to get that doctor to send me through all the testing I needed for the breast reduction.

Date: 2009-04-25 01:27 am (UTC)So yeah that is going to suck convincing them I need proper pain management. Would think telling them how much I overdose on OTC stuff woulf help. It's bullshit I'd have to suffer though because of the drug seekers. Sigh. I'm sick of being in pain all the fucking time.

Date: 2009-04-25 03:34 am (UTC)It hasn't upset my stomach at all or fogged me up. I seem to react very mildly to most medications though. Citalopram (generic Celexa) fogged me up badly at first, though.
